Agarkar feels Mayank Agarwal will get more exposed while playing overseas

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal has experienced a poor run with the willow in the three-match Test series against South Africa. In the 6 innings that he has played in the series against the Proteas, the right-hander has aggregated just 135 runs at a poor average of 22.50.

And now, former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar has opened up on Agarwal’s poor run with the bat in the series against the Proteas. Agarkar admitted that the delivery from Kagiso Rabada that dismissed Agarwal in the second innings of the third Test match was an excellent one.

Agarkar further added that Agarwal has not played much in overseas conditions in the whites, as he is mostly picked only as the third or fourth opener in the squad.

He could have done very little with this ball because it was close to the off-stump on a good length, moved away slightly after pitching and bounced as well. Mayank Agarwal has not played much in overseas conditions as well because he is the third or fourth opener,” said Ajit Agarkar as quoted by News18.

Mayank Agarwal has wasted his chances in the series: Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar also added that Mayank Agarwal has wasted the chance provided to him, especially after starting the series well with the willow, by scoring an attractive 60. Agarkar also opined that Agarwal has some technical faults in his game, and his batting will get more exposed especially when he is batting in overseas conditions.

He has wasted a chance because he started the series well. It is not easy when Rabada is in such good rhythm, the way he was bowling, but he [Mayank] has technical faults. He gets out in the same way and he will get more exposed, especially, in overseas conditions,” concluded Ajit Agarkar.

The three-match Test series between South Africa and India is delicately poised at 1-1. After India walloped the hosts by 113 runs in the 1st Test, the Proteas beat the visitors with 7 wickets to spare in the second rubber. The winner of the 3rd and final Test match at Cape Town will win the series.
