Earlier, the Director of the England team, Ashley Giles was sacked as well. And, Silverwood stated that it was a great honour for him to be the head coach of the England side.

Adding that he is proud to have worked with the players and the staff of the England cricket team, Silverwood stated that he wants to thank the England players for their constant support and wished the team well as they move on.

“It’s been an absolute honour to be England Head Coach, and I’m extremely proud to have worked alongside our players and staff. I want to thank them all for the hard work and commitment they have given during my time in the role and I wish them all the very best moving forward,” said Silverwood as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

The last two years have been very demanding: Chris Silverwood

Chris Silverwood added that he has enjoyed his time working with the likes of Joe Root and Eoin Morgan, and opined that the last two years have been challenging for him. Revealing that he is leaving with a lot of fond memories, Silverwood concluded by stating that he will now spend some quality time with his family.

“The last two years have been very demanding but I have really enjoyed my time with the team and working with Rooty and Morgs, and I am very proud of this group considering the challenges. I leave with fond memories and I am now looking forward to spending some quality time at home with my family and embracing the next chapter,” concluded Chris Silverwood.

The England cricket team will next be seen in action in a three-match Test series against the West Indies side which will kickstart on 8th March 2022.
