Three Best bowling figures for England in men’s ODIs

Team India’s tour of England has come to an end with the visitors winning the white-ball series. However, team England also showed a brilliant display of bowling throughout the limited-over fixtures, with the left-arm seamer Reece Topley bowling some excellent spells for the Three Lions. He also went on to register the best bowling figures for England in ODI cricket. On that note, let us take a look at the top three best bowling figures by an English bowler in ODI cricket. Let us begin:

3. 6/45 – Chris Woakes vs Australia in 2011

England premium pacer Chris Woakes comes third in the list after registering 6 for 45 against their arch-rivals Australia in Brisbane. To note, Woakes had his debut just a week ago before he demolished the Aussies bowling line-up. Woakes can bowl at the consistent line and lengths and can surprise the batters with his sharp bouncer. Apart from bowling, Woakes is very handy with the bat as well.

2. 6/31 – Paul Collingwood vs Bangladesh in 2005

Veteran batter Paul Collingwood had an excellent outing against Bangladesh in 2005 as he became the first English player to stroke a hundred and complete a five-wicket haul in the same match. Being played at Trent Bridge, England scored a massive 391 runs in their allotted 50 overs with Collingwood getting a century. Coming to bowl in the second innings, he took six wickets and gave away just 31 runs in his 10 overs with England winning the game comfortably.

1. 6/24 – Reece Topley vs India in 2022

England pacer Reece Topley comes first in the list after grabbing six wickets and giving away just 24 runs during the second ODI in the recently concluded series against India. The left-arm pacer grabbed a total of six wickets with India losing the game by 100 runs. Topley was adjudged player of the match for his excellent performance as England levelled the series but went on to lose the final match and give India a famous series victory on English soil.
