IPL 2022 mega auction: 3 Overseas players who were bargain buys

The IPL 2022 mega auction had a lot of mixed actions involved with some surprising names going for big bucks and the expected ones settling down for lower prices. Some franchises were very clever enough to steal some players for their base price in the mega auction while a couple of franchises entered the fray only at the last moments nearing to the end of the auction. With all that said, here are 3 overseas who were bargain buys in the auction.

Jonny Bairstow:

Jonny Bairstow was bought by the Punjab Kings franchise for just INR 6.75 Crores and it was one of the bargain buys considering his IPL performances. The England wicketkeeper batter has been in really good form and has dominated the bowling attacks from the top of the order. He attracted bidding from Delhi Capitals and his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and with 1038 runs in 28 innings at an average of 40, Bairstow can make a big difference to the franchise.

Aiden Markram:

Aiden Markram has been playing the dual role of opening the batting and opening the bowling and he has a lot to offer a side in terms of his fielding as well. The South African batter had an impressive start to his IPL career last year and he was expected to go for a big money in the auction. However, the Sunrisers Hyderabad landed him for just INR 2.6 Crores after an immense bidding war against Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.

David Warner:

David Warner was among the marquee list for IPL 2022 mega auction and he has been a terrific performer in IPL for a long time. The Australian left-hander recently bagged the man of the series award in the T20 World Cup 2022 and showed his match-winning abilities with the bat at the top. The Delhi Capitals bagged him for just INR 6.25 Crores with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings showing interest and he will form a destructive pair alongside Prithvi Shaw at the top.
