Want to win India the World Cup no matter what happens: Hardik Pandya
Gujarat Titans won their maiden IPL title in their first season on Sunday (29th May) after defeating Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the final. In the battle of two Indian captains, it was Hardik Pandya who came up trumps and later expressed his desire to win the World Cup with the Indian team.
The all-rounder displayed tremendous character as he led from the front with both the ball and the bat. His 3/17 in four overs was the turning point in the game as he did not give the Rajasthan batters a moment of respite. The enigmatic leader has been praised for his leadership qualities this year as he lifted his fifth IPL title, the second most number of trophies behind Rohit Sharma (6).
“Absolutely to win the World Cup for India no matter what happens. I am gonna give it everything I have. Always been that kind of guy to put the team first. For me, the goal will be simple: to make sure my team gets it the most,” Hardik said after the match.
Playing for India is a dream come true: Hardik Pandya
Pandya, who played a lone hand in India’s heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2017 final, was also a part of the team in the 2019 World Cup when India was narrowly defeated in the semi-final by New Zealand. Pandya revealed that it has been always a pleasure representing the Indian team and is thankful for the love and support from the fans.
“Playing for India has always been a kind of dream come true, no matter how many games I have played. It has always been a pleasure for me to represent the country. The kind of love and support I have got is only from the Indian team’s point of view. Long term, short term, I want to win the World Cup no matter what happens,” he added.
