SA-IND-WI Women’s Tri-series – 5 players to watch out for

South Africa, India, and West Indies are participating in a Tri-series which began on January 19, 2023, at Buffalo Park in Eastern Cape. The series includes seven matches where all three teams will face each other twice before the top two teams qualify for the final. This will be a preparatory series for the three sides as they gear up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.

On that note, let us look at five players who can emerge as top performers in the tri-series

5. Laura Wolvaardt

One of the finest batters in the South African side, Laura Wolvaardt has always been very impressive in the 20-over format. She is a proven match-winner and recently played a good amount of franchise cricket. She has been scoring runs brilliantly and will be the one to watch out for.

4. Marizanne Kapp

One of the most experienced all-rounders on the side, Marizanne Kapp is brilliant with the bat and the ball. Her recent outing was at the Women’s Big Bash League where she put up some notable performances representing the Perth Scorchers.

3. Stafanie Taylor

Caribbean all-rounder Stafanie Taylor missed out on the England series last month, and her last T20I outing was back in July 2021. Nevertheless, she has kept up with her performances and managed to put up good scores for the team. As she marks her return to the T20I setup, she will be the one to watch out for.

2. Smriti Mandhana

Indian opener and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana looked in good touch in the series against Australia last month. Though she could not make an impact in the full series, she shone bright in India’s super over win over the visitors. She has provided the side with some good starts earlier as well, and thus will be a player to keep an eye on.

1. Renuka Singh Thakur

Renuka has been in tremendous form with the ball ever since the Commonwealth Games 2022. She has been brilliant with the new ball and has 23 wickets from 25 T20I games so far. One of the key members of the team, she will be the one to watch out for with the ball in the Indian setup.
