WPL Final Preview: DC vs MI – Delhi hunt for their maiden glory as Mumbai chase a second triumph

Delhi Capitals will face Mumbai Indians on Saturday, March 14, in the summit clash of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

The Capitals had a great run in the tournament, winning five games out of the eight they played. This included two wins against Mumbai Indians in as many meetings. Delhi defeated Mumbai by two wickets in Vadodara, chasing a target of 165 off the last ball.

Meanwhile, in the second encounter between the two sides, Capitals made light work of a 124-run target in Bengaluru as they romped home with nine wickets and 33 balls to spare. Meg Lanning and Co. finished on the top of the table at the end of the league stage and gained a direct ticket to the final.

Mumbai Indians had to take the longer route to the final after finishing second on the points table. They also had five wins and three losses under their belt, but their net run-rate wasn’t as good as that of the Capitals. Harmanpreet Kaur’s women defeated Gujarat in the Eliminator by 47 runs to reach the final.

In WPL 2025, Nat Sciver Brunt is the leading run-getter, while Hayley Matthews is the leading wicket-taker. They have played key roles in the Mumbai Indians’ impressive campaign so far. Meanwhile, openers Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning have fared commendably for Delhi. Also, Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen excelled with the ball.
