Women’s WC 2022: Mandhana, Harmanpreet script records against WI
Stellar centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur took India to an emphatic 155-run win over West Indies in the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2022. The pair added 184 runs for the third wicket as India posted 317 in their allotted 50 overs. On the very same track, the Caribbean team got bundled out for 162 runs.
Notably, the two dashers haven’t often batted together due to vastly different batting positions. However, their camaraderie against the Women in Maroon was nothing but magnificent. Meanwhile, Mandhana and Harmanpreet have created plenty of records, both individually and as a pair.
Here’s a look at those records:
184 – Mandhana and Harmanpreet added 184 runs, the highest fourth-wicket partnership in the Women’s World Cup history. The duo overtook the 170-run fourth-wicket stand between Tammy Beaumont and Nat Sciver for England against New Zealand in 2017.
3 –Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian batter to record three centuries in the Women’s World Cup.
2 – Smriti Mandhana became the first Indian to score multiple hundreds in New Zealand in Women’s ODIs. She also became the first from her country to slam multiple hundreds against West Indies in Women’s ODIs.
110 – Runs scored by Harmanpreet Kaur, which is the highest score by an Indian batting at No.5 or lower in Women’s ODIs.
51.35 – Current ODI batting average of Smriti Mandhana outside home. She is the only Indian to average 50+ outside home in Women’s ODIs.
27 – Total sixes hit by Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana in the Women’s World Cup (Harmanpreet hit 20 and Smriti hit 7). All other Indian batters have a combined total of only 17 recorded sixes in the entire history of the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
58.22 – Average partnership runs per dismissal by the Mandhana-Harmanpareet pair, which is the second-highest by any Indian pair in Women’s ODIs (min: 500 runs). The only Indian pair to average higher is Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut who have aggregated 681 partnership runs at an average of 68.10.
