3 players with the most centuries in IPL

It is a dream for any batter to score a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, several batters have made a habit of scoring hundred in the toughest franchise-based league. On that note, let us take a look at three players with the most centuries in the history of IPL.

David Warner, Jos Buttler, KL Rahul, and Shane Watson (four centuries)

The pocket-dynamite from Australia, David Warner is considered one of the most successful batters of the tournament. The left-handed batter has smashed four tons so far. Warner scored his first century during IPL 2010 and his second in 2012. His third ton came while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2017. Another Australian who has four centuries in IPL is Shane Watson. The right-handed batter stroked his fourth century during the final match of IPL 2018 against SRH and helped his side to clinch the trophy. Apart from Watson and Warner, Indian batter KL Rahul and England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler have also stroked four centuries.

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli did not score a single hundred till IPL 2016. However, the right-handed batter changed everything during IPL 2016 edition. Kohli smashed several big records by smashing four centuries hundred in one single season and amassing 973 runs. In IPL 2019, Kohli scored his fifth century against KKR.

Chris Gayle (six centuries)

Universe Boss Chris Gayle sits right at the top of this elite list after stroking six tons in the tournament. The left-hand smashed his first hundred in IPL 2011 as he played a brilliant knock of 102 runs off 55, stroking 10 fours and 7 sixes. The last of his six tons in the IPL came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018. He did not play the 2022 edition of the league but is expected to return in 2023.
