3 Venues to host the most T20 matches

Some iconic and historic cricket stadiums in the world have hosted an ‘N’ number of matches over the years. These stadiums have hosted many games of different formats namely Tests, ODIs, and T20s. The most demanding and popular format in current times, the T20 format was introduced way back in the year 2003, and since then few grounds have staged many exciting and entertaining encounters.

3.National Stadium, Karachi (183)

The National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan hosted its first-ever T20 match 16 years back in 2006. Since then, the ground has staged 183 T20 encounters which is the third highest of all in the world. ABN-AMRO Twenty-20 Cup was the tournament that hosted the matches first-time ever in February-March 2006. The maiden T20 international was played out between hosts Pakistan and Bangladesh in April 2008. The last one was contested by the Men in Green and West Indies in December 2021. The stadium has also been staging the domestic T20 competition, Pakistan Super League.

2.Dubai International Cricket Stadium (202)

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium or Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates has staged the second-most T20 matches in its history. It has hosted a total of 201 matches so far. The ground, which was also one of the venues in the T20 World Cup in 2021 that also organized the final, was established 13 years ago in 2009. Pakistan and Australia played out the first-ever T20 international at the iconic ground which is also famous for its floodlights that is called the ‘Ring of Fire’.

1.Shere Bangla National Stadium (381)

The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur in Dhaka, Bangladesh has hosted the most T20 matches in history. A total of 381 clashes have taken place so far at this venue. It was established 16 years back in 2006. The first-ever T20 match took place between Chittagong Division and Rajshahi Division in the National Cricket League Twenty20 in the year 2010. Since then, the stadium has staged many T20 matches of some big tournaments like the T20 World Cup 2014 and Asia Cup 2012, 2014, and 2016. The ground hosted all the finals of these competitions.
