4 Oldest players to score an IPL fifty

At any age scoring a half-century for the team is a special thing. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed such instances over the past 14 seasons where young or old players have notched up a half-century.

4.Rahul Dravid (40y 116d)

Rahul Dravid is in the fourth position on the list. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Dravid scored 53 runs off 48 balls at the age of 40y 116d against DC in 2013 in Jaipur. Chasing a target of 155, the right-handed batting maestro opened the innings with Ajinkya Rahane as the duo struck the fifties to seal the deal for RR. They chased down the target in 17.5 overs to win the match by nine wickets.

3.MS Dhoni (40y 262d)

The latest entrant in this chart is MS Dhoni, who scored fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match of IPL 2022. Former CSK skipper Dhoni slammed an unbeaten 50 runs off just 38 deliveries aged 40y 262d at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which was also his first IPL fifty at the venue. He struck seven fours and a six to take his side to a decent total of 131/5.

2.Chris Gayle (41y 39d)

Chris Gayle is the second-oldest player to notch up a fifty. He hammered 99 runs off 63 balls with six fours and eight sixes against RR in IPL 2020. Aged 41y 39d, Gayle played with a strike rate of 157.14 and took Punjab Kings to a total of 185/4 in the 20 overs. Just one short of a well-deserved ton, Jofra Archer disturbed his stumps to put an end to his terrific innings.

1.Adam Gilchrist (41y 181d)

The oldest player to hit a fifty in the IPL is Adam Gilchrist. Aged 41y 181d, Gilchrist slammed unbeaten 85 runs off 54 balls with ten fours and three sixes against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2013. Playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) he helped his side in chasing a stiff target of 175 as being the skipper. he led his team from the front to achieve the score.
