5 players who turned their performance around in 2022

The Indian Premier League has been a platform where budding cricketers give out their best hoping for brighter opportunities and experienced players continue to do what they are best at. In the ongoing season of the IPL 2022, there have been a few notable players who had a poor run last year but bounced back stronger this season.

Let us have a look at 5 players who did not impress in IPL 2021 but have turned it around in 2022:

 1. David Warner

The Australian star had a rough patch throughout the 2021 edition with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, as he was removed as the skipper and was even dropped from the playing XI. But he made a magnificent comeback playing for DC this year and has amassed 356 runs in eight matches so far, including four half-centuries. He has been a terrific opener for the side this season.

2. Dinesh Karthik

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter had a dry run last year with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Having led the team previously, he had handed over the captaincy to Eion Morgan midway through the tournament. However, he has been playing the finisher’s role brilliantly with the RCB this year and has made a brilliant comeback.

3. Liam Livingstone

Playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2021 edition, Liam Livingstone managed to score just 42 runs in the five games. Apart from that, he had not bowled a single over last season. He was roped in by the Punjab Kings this year, and he has been prolific, having scored 293 runs in 10 matches, including three half-centuries. His consistency as a batter in the middle-order has been commendable and he has led his team to some epic finishes.

4. Shimron Hetmyer

The West Indies all-rounder managed only 242 runs in the 14 matches with Delhi Capitals last year he was not retained by the team. He was brought by Rajasthan Royals this year for INR 8.50 CR and he has been in brilliant form, averaging 65.00. He has provided his team with the crucial runs in the death overs and has proved to be a great finisher.

5. Khaleel Ahmed

The left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed failed to leave an impression last year as he could only pick five wickets for the Delhi Capitals at a poor average of 43.80. He was an in-and-out player, featuring in only seven games in the season. However, he turned the tide in 2022, having picked 11 wickets at a brilliant average of 17.27 and an economy rate of 7.29 in seven games so far.
