5 players with dual representation in international cricket

It’s always a special feeling for any player to represent a nation in an international tournament and this feeling will be more thrilling when the player is making his debut. It is a big honour to represent a country in international cricket but there are few lucky players who have represented more than one nation. So, let’s take a look at five players who have represented more than one country in international cricket.

  1. Eoin Morgan (Ireland & England)

The World Cup-winning English batter recently announced his retirement from international cricket after a glorious career. Morgan, born in Ireland, made his international debut in 2007 and scored 99 runs in his first international game. He played 23 ODIs for Ireland, scoring 744 runs, and was part of their 2007 World Cup squad as well. Morgan made his debut for England in 2009 against West Indies after declaring his intentions to play for England. He enjoyed great success with the Three Lions and presented them in more than 300 international matches.

  1. Tim David (Singapore & Australia)

Tim David has established himself as one of the best big-hitters in T20 cricket and possesses a promising potential to be successful across formats. He presented Singapore in 14 T20I matches since making his debut in July 2019 and made his debut for Australia in September 2022. He was part of Australia’s squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup where he scored 26 runs in two innings.

  1. Luke Ronchi (New Zealand & Australia)

The right-handed batter represented Australia in only seven international games from 2008 to 2009. He was picked for New Zealand team in 2009 after impressive performances in the nation’s domestic circuit. He made a good impact with the Kiwis while playing in 110 international matches and scoring more than 1500 runs.

  1. Dirk Nannes (Netherlands & Australia)

The left-arm pacer witnessed a short international career despite having impressive numbers in T20I cricket. He appeared in two T20Is for the Netherlands and was part of the squad which famously knocked out England from the 2009 T20 World Cup. After the tournament, he represented Australia in 15 T20Is where he took 27 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.60, and also played one ODI match.

  1. Roelof van der Merwe (South Africa & Netherlands)

The 37-year-old bowling all-rounder made his international debut with South Africa in 2009 with a match-winning performance against Australia. But he managed to feature in only 13 T20Is for his country of birth. He later joined the Netherlands in 2015 and has been a consistent performer in T20I cricket since then. He was part of the recent 2022 T20 World Cup, where he scored five runs and took two wickets.
