Ajinkya Rahane vows to replicate IPL 2023 form with Indian team

The return of Ajinkya Rahane to the Indian Test team after a successful campaign with Chennai Super Kings is a welcome addition for the Asian outfit, who are gearing up for the World Test Championship Final clash against Australia. The senior batter added another gear to his batting in the recently concluded IPL 2023 season and is hoping to bat with the same vigour in the upcoming summit clash.

Ajinkya Rahane had to endure a rough last couple of years after being dropped from the Test side due to a series of poor outings for the red-ball side. However, a stellar run in the domestic circuit, followed by a swashbuckling performance for CSK in their fifth IPL title triumph has seen him return to the fray for the WTC final against Australia.

The 34-year-old batter, who lead India to a famous series victory in the absence of Virat Kohli in Australia in 2021, is feeling good at the moment and is hoping to carry his IPL form into the longest format of the game for India.

“Coming back after 18-19 months, whatever has happened, good or bad, I don’t want to think about my past. I just want to start afresh and keep doing whatever I have been doing. I enjoyed playing for CSK as I have been batting well throughout the season, even before IPL. I had a very good domestic season, and I felt good. I want to bat with the same mindset and show the same intent that I showed before coming here to IPL and Ranji Trophy. I would not like to think about format, whether it is T20 or Tests. The way I am batting now, I don’t want to complicate things and the more I keep it simple, the better it is for me,” Rahane told BCCI on the sidelines of India’s training session.
