Asia Cup 2022: Top three run-scorers

The Asia Cup 2022 finally came to an end with Sri Lanka clinching the prestigious silverware against Pakistan in the summit clash on September 11, 2022. Sri Lanka had been a dominant force at the tournament ever since their loss against Afghanistan in their campaign opener in the group stage. The islanders gave in their best effort throughout the tournament and went on to bag their sixth Asia Cup title.

The continental tournament witnessed the teams scoring runs in bulk, and the highest score registered this year was by India, when the Men in Blue scored a massive 212/2 in their 20-overs quota against Afghanistan in the Super 4s. While there were many high-scoring and low-scoring thrillers, there are a few batters who need to be given due credit for their consistent performances which kept them on top of the leader board.

Here are the top run-scorers from Asia Cup 2022:

3. Ibrahim Zadran (Afghanistan)- 196 runs

Afghanistan’s top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran had a good outing at the Asia Cup this season. His efforts with the bat helped Afghanistan bag back-to-back victories in the group stage, which kept them in a comfortable position to make it to the Super 4. Zadran was very impressive as he piled up the crucial runs to keep his team going in the game, and ended up getting 196 runs at a good average of 65.33 from five games, including one half-century.

2. Virat Kohli (India)- 276 runs

The prolific batter was the shining star for not just India this season, as his prolonged lean patch finally came to an end. Kohli was the only batter in this tournament to score a century as he bagged his 71st international ton after a gap of nearly three years. He ended his campaign as the top run-getter for India, and the second-highest in the tournament, with 276 runs at a massive average of 92.00, including a ton and two half-centuries.

1. Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan)- 281 runs

The Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter played some beautiful knocks in the tournament this year.
