One of the two candidates for the lone wicketkeeper-batsman spot in the Indian Test team, Rishabh Pant stormed his way to a first-class century against Australia A in the ongoing practice match. In the three-day affair being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground with the pink ball, Pant’s century helped India in gaining a whopping lead. The visitors are now in a strong position to claim a victory ahead of the Test series against Australia.

After both the teams registered low scores in their first innings, India came out to bat at the beginning of the second day. Prithvi Shaw fell for 3 runs while Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill went past fifty. Hanuma Vihari boosted his credentials with a century but all eyes were on Pant.

Left out of the limited-overs squads, Pant has a point to prove in the upcoming Test series. He was not included in the first practice match and was out for a low score in the first innings of this game. However, he was determined to make the mark today.

Starting the final over of the day with his individual score being 81, Pant had his eyes on reaching the three-figure mark. After a dot ball, he smashed 4, 4, 6, 4 and 4 off the next five deliveries to complete an astounding century. Twitterverse exploded in praising this daredevilry.
