The Indian team is currently involved in a highly-anticipated pink-ball Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The visitors are playing with their regular Test XI and refrained themselves from making any substantial changes. There were speculations that the youngster Shubman Gill might debut but the management showed trust in Prithvi Shaw.

However, the move didn’t pay off as the young rookie’s poor form with the willow continued. The toss went Virat Kohli’s way and he elected to bat first. In the very first over, on the second delivery bowled by Mitchell Starc, Shaw played a length delivery straight on to his stumps trying to drive a ball very early in the innings. It was a poor attempt as the ball uprooted the stumps and the batsman had to go back to the pavilion for a duck.

Shaw’s poor performance left fans and cricket pundits baffled as many took to their social media handles to express their opinions over the young opening batsman. Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli also opined on the same saying that the Mumbai-based cricketer either scores a hundred or gets out on 0 and hoped that he comes up with a better show in the second innings.

As of now, the 21-year-old opening batsman has featured in just 4 games for the Indian team in Whites and has amassed a whopping 335 runs at a stunning average of 55.8.
