AUS vs WI: Top performers of the T20I series

West Indies’ final preparations before the start of the T20 World Cup are done and dusted but it has not been an ideal one as the two-time WC champions lost the two-match T20I series against Australia in Australia 2-0.

5.Pat Cummins

Aussie Test captain Pat Cummins snared the third-most scalps in the series. The 29-year-old fast bowler took four wickets at an average of 13.50 and a strike rate of 12.0 at an economy rate of just 6.75. In the series opener, Cummins delivered a tight spell of 2/22 in four overs and in Brisbane, he gave away 32 runs for two wickets, including the crucial scalp of powerful hitter Rovman Powell. Overall, Cummins leaked only 54 runs in eight overs in the series.

4.Alzarri Joseph

Seam bowler Alzarri Joseph turned out to be the only shining light for West Indies as the right-arm fast quick ended the series with the second-most wickets to his name. The 25-year-old pacer took five wickets in two matches at an average of just 7.60 and a strike rate of 9.6 with an economy rate of 4.75. He bowled two solid spells of 2/17 in Queensland and 3/21 in Brisbane as he gave away just 38 runs in eight overs.

3.Mitchell Starc

Australian speedster Mitchell Starc took the most wickets in the series with six scalps to his name in two games. The 32-year-old left-arm fast bowler gave away just 60 runs in eight overs at an economy rate of 7.50. His average and strike rate were 10.00 and 8.0 respectively in the series. The pacer took figures of 2/40 in four overs in the first match and delivered his career-best spell of 4/20 in the final encounter.

2.Aaron Finch

Australian skipper finished the series as the second-highest run-scorer. The 35-year-old batter struck 73 runs in two games at an average of 36.50 and a strike rate of 101.38. The Caribbean side batted first and posted 145/9 in the opening match in Queensland with the Aussies needing 146 for victory. Finch, batting at no. four, amassed 58 off 53 with six fours to guide his team to a three-wicket win. He also grabbed the Player of the Match award for his captain’s knock.

1.David Warner

Player of the Match in the second game and also the Player of the Series, David Warner ended the series as the highest run-getter. The dynamic left-handed batter smashed 89 runs in two outings at an average of 44.50 and a strike rate of 189.36 with the best score of 75 in the final clash, which included ten fours and three sixes helping the Aussies in clean sweeping West Indies.
