AUS-W vs IND-W: Top five performers from the multi-format series

The recently-concluded India women’s tour of Australia witnessed some exciting action between the willow and the ball. The tour comprised three ODIs, as many T20Is and a one-off Test. While the home team dominated the major part of the series, Team India was neck-to-neck in most of the games. Speaking of the outcome, Australia won the ODI and T20I three by 2-1 and 2-0 respectively.

While India held the command in the one-off Test, the game eventually ended in a draw. The scorelines clearly suggest Australia were the better team and they would be pleased with their effort. On the other hand, several loopholes in India’s ship were exposed and the visitors must be aware of the same. Meanwhile, several players in this series impressed with their individual performance. With the series coming to an end, we’ll look at the stand-out performers.

Meanwhile, let’s look at the top five players for India women’s tour of Australia

Smriti Mandhana

The dashing Indian opener enjoyed the form of her life in the tour, playing one brilliant knock after another.  In the ODI leg, she got starts in almost all games as he scored 124 runs. She also scored a half-century in one of the T20Is. However, Smriti’s highlight performance was her century in the one-off Test. With Australia offering bouncy tracks, the southpaw should be pleased with her show.

Pooja Vastrakar

All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has to be India’s other stand-out performer. The right-arm pacer brilliantly exploited the Australian tracks and kept the Aussie batters on their heels. While Vastrakar took five wickets across the white-ball games, she got four scalps in the one-off Test. Not to forget, she also contributed in the batting department.

Tahlia McGrath

While many Aussie players shone in the series, not many were more impressive than Tahlia McGrath. The all-rounder delivered in all three departments as India endured a hard time in the limited-overs games. She scored 121 and 86 runs in the ODI and T20I series respectively. At the same time, she also took four wickets.

Beth Mooney

Opener Beth Mooney did the bulk of the scoring for Australia in the series. While the southpaw couldn’t do much in the one-off Test, she was nothing but exceptional in white-ball matches. She kept scoring at the top as Australia got good starts regularly. Her tally of 177 and 95 runs are also the most for any player in the ODI and T20I series respectively.

Sophie Molineux

While Mooney troubled Team India with the bat in hand, Sophie Molineux did the same in the bowling department. The left-arm spinner kept the scoring rate down alongside taking wickets at regular intervals. In fact, she was Australia’s stand-out bowler throughout the tour, scalping 11 wickets across formats.
