BAN vs IND: Jaydev Unadkat out of first Test due to visa issues

KL Rahul-led team India lock horns with hosts Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. It commences on December 14 in Chattogram. India pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who has been recalled to the Test side, is still stuck in India ahead of the first Test match.

It is understood that the pacer has not received his visa despite all the efforts of the logistics department. Furthermore, as per a report, Unadkat is presently at home due to visa issues.

Unadkat’s case appears to be a peculiar one as the BCCI arranges visas for all players at the earliest usually. However, no pre-booking was done for the veteran left-arm pacer as he was included in the squad as an unexpected inclusion following the injury to Mohammed Shami.

The management will look into Unadkat’s matter and will hope that he joins the squad prior to the second Test. This means doors could open up for players like Navdeep Saini.

However, the final selection will be done based on the conditions and requirements of the match by the management. Earlier, BCCI shared an updated squad with Cheteshwar Pujara named as the deputy to KL Rahul.

Team India are seeking a spot in the summit clash of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle. However, the side would require wins in the red-ball matches against the Bangla Tigers in order to remain a step closer to the finals of the event held next year
