BAN vs IND: Top 5 performers from ODI series

India and Bangladesh locked horns in a three-match ODI series where the Litton Das-led side emerged victorious. Hosts Bangladesh won the series 2-1, and all three games were very much competitive. While the first two games were close encounters where Bangladesh won, India completely dominated the third game and ended the series on a positive note.

Let us look at the top 5 performers of the ODI series:

5. Shakib Al Hasan

The all-rounder was phenomenal throughout the series. In three games, he picked up nine wickets while registering a five-wicket haul in the first game. He was effective with the bat as well and managed to score 80 runs in the three games, with his best effort coming off the third game where he tried to anchor the innings but his side ended up on the losing end.

4. Rohit Sharma

Words fall short to describe Rohit Sharma’s knock in the second ODI when he was rushed to the hospital for scans after he injured his thumb while fielding. He did not participate in the game thereafter owing to the injury. But India’s batting order came falling down while chasing, and Sharma walked in to bat at No. 9 with an injured thumb. He notched up a swashbuckling 28-ball 51* and took the game till the final ball of the final over but his knock went in vain as India lost the game by just five runs.

3. Virat Kohli

Having scored just 14 runs in the first two games, Virat Kohli bounced back stronger in the third game. He hit a brilliant 91-ball 113 to bring up his 44th ODI ton, and his 72nd overall to register his name in history books. Kohli hit his first ODI century after a gap of more than three years and also surpassed Ricky Ponting’s record for most international centuries of all time.

2. Ishan Kishan

The 24-year-old opening batter was given the chance to play only in the third ODI because India did not have the services of skipper Rohit Sharma. Kishan grabbed the opportunity with both hands and went berserk on the field while shattering numerous records. He claimed his maiden international ton, and converted it into a double-ton in just 126 deliveries, becoming the fastest-ever player to score a 200 in ODIs.

1. Mehidy Hasan Miraz

The 25-year-old all-rounder put up a show like never before. He took his side to a thrilling victory in the first game by hitting an unbeaten 38*(39) during the final few moments of the game when India needed just one wicket to win. He kept the Indian bowlers struggling for the final wicket. He repeated similar heroics in the second game and went on to hit a century which helped Bangladesh clinch the series.
