Bangar hints at changes in team combination ahead of Bangladesh tie

After a disappointing defeat against hosts England at Edgbaston, India will have another opportunity to seal their place in the semis when they take on Bangladesh at the same venue. The match will be one of the final opportunities for the team management to settle upon their best combination before the start of the semis. It seems as though India have still not settled upon their best XI, with the lower middle-order misfiring spectacularly and questions over the suitability of KL Rahul at the top of the order.

Before the match against Bangladesh, Indian batting coach addressed some of the issues in the pre-match press conference. Sounding confident, he said:

“We know the wicket and ground dimensions really well. We would try to learn from the match against England. We will assess the things that went wrong and try to execute our skills better against Bangladesh.”

Bangar also hinted that there could be a place for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI:

“The team management will be open to various combinations in the next match. We will look at the wicket and the ground dimensions. We will look at Ravindra Jadeja coming in.”

Finally, he gave some good news in terms of the injury status to pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar:

“Bhuvneshwar is fit to play. He was fit to play against England as well.”

It now remains to be seen whether India make some changes to their lineup or persist with the same XI which went down in a tepid defeat against England.
