Batter with the most centuries in women’s ODIs

When the batters score runs in flow and get a good momentum going in the game, it may look easy from the outside, but only the batters know the pressure that they carry on their shoulders. The whole team relies on their hopes on the player and expects them to stay on the field, get more runs and keep the game going. There have been many who have piled up runs with the bat in women’s cricket, but there are just a few who have been consistent with their game and reached the three-figure mark at a crucial stage.

Let us look at those women cricketers who have bagged the most number of centuries under their name-

3. Charlotte Edwards & Tammy Beaumont (England)- 9

The two English players have achieved laurels in the game and have made the team proud whenever they walk out in the game. Edwards has been one of the finest players to have ever played cricket. The top-order batter represented England for 20 years before announcing her retirement in 2016. Tammy Beaumont, the current opening batter of the side, is following a similar path and recently joined the elite list. Beaumont scored a ton against South Africa in the ODI series to stand tall alongside the legendary Edwards, with nine tons.

2. Suzie Bates (New Zealand)- 12

The former skipper of the White Ferns, Suzie Bates has fulfilled the role of an all-rounder in the side. Having played 142 ODIs so far, she has 5045 runs and 75 wickets to her name. One of the finest performers in the New Zealand camp, Bates has hit 12 ODI centuries. Of the lot, her best one came against Pakistan during the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2009 where she struck a magnificent 105-ball 168 runs.

1. Meg Lanning (Australia)- 15

The Australian skipper has always been a cut above the rest. The number of records that Lanning has created and broken while leading Australia are incomparable. Under her captaincy, the team won both the T20I and ODI World Cups and are the reigning champions. Lanning has never let her captaincy pressure overshadow her performance, and has set an example in the field. With a total of 15 centuries to her name in just the ODI format, Lanning is placed on top of the list.
