Chaminda Vaas appointed Sri Lanka’s bowling coach for upcoming Windies tour

Vaas

Former pacer Chaminda Vaas has been appointed Sri Lanka’s fast bowling coach ahead of their West Indies tour. Sri Lanka Cricket announced the decision on Friday (February 19).

The appointment of Vaas comes after the stepping down of David Saker, who resigned owing to personal reasons after taking up the position in 2019. As a fast bowler, Vaas represented Sri Lanka in 322 ODIs and 111 Tests, making his international debut in 1994. He finished an illustrious career with 761 international wickets to his name.

Sri Lanka’s full-fledged tour of the West Indies kick starts on March 3, with all matches scheduled behind closed doors at Antigua.
