The 3-match Test series between England and Pakistan was mostly dominated by rain and bad light. But for a certain James Anderson, it was an opportunity to add another record feather to his cap. The Englishman on Tuesday (August 25) became the first fast bowler in the history of the game to scalp 600 Test wickets.

For now, Anderson’s majestic achievement puts his retirement rumours to rest. The 38-year-old admits he still has the fire to perform at the highest level. He also has the faith of his captain Joe Root, who insists the veteran be a part of England’s next Ashes outing Down Under. Can he get to 700 Test wickets? While most fast bowlers his age are enjoying their retirement days, Anderson says, “Why not?”.
