David Warner vows to attend idol Shane Warne’s funeral

Australian spin-bowling colossus Shane Warne passed away on 4th March 2022. And, Warne’s funeral is to take place on 30th March 2022, and a huge turnout is expected for his funeral ceremony at MCG.

And now, Australian batting mainstay David Warner has said that the news of Warne’s death has still not sunk in. Warner also added that he first thought Warne’s death was a joke. The left-handed batter also confirmed that he will attend Warne’s funeral. Warner also added that it will be an emotional moment for a lot of people.

“It still hasn’t really sunk in. When we first found out, we thought it was a joke. I will be there (for Warne’s funeral), 100 percent. It’s definitely going to be extremely emotional for everyone. There will be lots of people paying their respects,” said David Warner as quoted by Sportstar.

David Warner also added that Shane Warne is a cricketer who had touched the lives of millions of people. Adding that when he was growing up he wanted to be like Warne, Warner revealed that he had a poster of the iconic leg spinner on his room’s wall.

“You just look at the tributes from around the world — he has touched millions and millions of people, and from different countries. As a kid, I had his poster up on the wall. I wanted to be like Shane,” said Warner.

Warner also stated that cricketers are people who entertain people and concluded by stating that he likes to engage with the fans as well. “We’re entertainers as well. If I’m not playing in the middle where I’m batting, I like to engage with the fans,” concluded David Warner.

Shane Warne is the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of Test match cricket and scalped a staggering 708 wickets in the whites in 145 appearances for the Australian side.
