DC vs SRH Preview – Struggling sides hope to hit form

Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will cross swords again, in their upcoming contest, the 40th game of the IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, on April 29, Saturday. The two sides faced each other in their most recent game, where Delhi emerged victorious and claimed their second victory of the tournament, thereby handing Hyderabad their fourth consecutive defeat.

Their recent encounter was a low-scoring thriller at Hyderabad, which the David Warner-led side won by seven runs in the final over. Delhi took a big decision by benching Prithvi Shaw and bringing Phil Salt into the combination as the opening batter. But their top-order struggle continued as the English cricketer was dismissed for a duck. Nevertheless, they managed to post a decent total of 144/9.

Hyderabad started off their chase well and were well in contention to win the game, but a mini-collapse in the middle overs led to the hosts losing their momentum in the game. The game went down the wire and went till the final over, but Mukesh Sharma managed to restrict the SRH batters and won the game for Delhi. While Delhi would be hoping to repeat similar heroics, Hyderabad would be aiming to bounce back to winning ways.

Pitch and conditions

The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium provides equal opportunities to both batters and bowlers. Chasing here is the ideal option that the captains opt for as nine games have been won by the teams chasing here, compared to the four games won batting first. It is not a high-scoring pitch and hence, the contest may end up in a thriller.

Venue details: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

Probable playing XI for Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad clash:

Delhi Capitals

David Warner & Co. are struggling in the tournament, as even after winning two games in a row, they’re placed last in the points table, having lost the first five games. As the first half of the IPL has come to an end, Delhi will have to win their remaining fixtures so as to find a place in the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad looked very determined when they won two games on the trot, but things have fallen out of place for the Orange Army since then. Backed with four consecutive losses, they would be hungry for a comeback victory.
