A premier all-rounder, she has left everyone in awe due to her exceptional skills with both the bat and the ball. Excelling in two major sports is no easy task. Apart from this, she has also proudly carried the torch of being the glamour girl of world cricket. Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has achieved all this and much more with great elan!

A tough decision

Perry

Hailing from Australia, a land of rich sporting heritage, Perry excelled in two major sports as a teenager – football and cricket. Such was her talent, that both the associations fought tooth and nail to retain her services. She represented the Australian football team 18 times, scoring 3 goals, operating as a defender. In the end, the choice of sport was taken out of her hands. The head coach of the national football team, Hesterine de Reus, decided not to select Perry any longer for the side in 2014. Her reasoning was that due to Perry’s dual commitments, she was not playing enough matches to operate at the highest level. Football’s loss certainly turned out to be cricket’s gain!

The undisputed superstar of the Southern Stars!

Since her debut in 2007, Perry has taken Australian cricket by storm. All-rounders of her mettle are hard to come by and she has truly established herself as a generational talent. Exceeding expectations in all the three formats, Perry has some major accomplishments to her name in international cricket. Some of them include winning the Belinda Clark Award for Australian Women’s Cricketer of the Year three times (2016, 2018 and 2019) and the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year two times (2017 and 2019).
