309/4 by England vs Sri Lanka at The Oval in 2016 (40.1 overs)

The third-fastest 300+ ODI chase came back in 2016 when England took on Sri Lanka at the Oval. Through the brilliance of Sri Lanka’s middle order, the side posted a mammoth target of 306. However, little did they know what the hosts had in store in the second innings. Coming in to chase the target, it was the brilliance of opener Jason Roy, who amassed 162 runs in 118 balls, that led England to chase the target down in just 40.1 overs.

324/2 by Sri Lanka vs England in Leeds in 2006 (37.3 overs)

The second-fastest chase of a 300+ run target came when Sri Lanka took on England in 2006 in Leeds. Marcus Trescothick’s century in the first innings, helped England notch up 321 runs on the board. However, Sri Lanka were able to chase the target down with ease thanks to the brilliance of their opening batters. Upul Tharanga scored 109 runs whereas Sanath Jayasuriya amassed 152 runs to win the game for Sri Lanka in just 37.3 overs.

321/3 by India vs Sri Lanka in Hobart in 2012 (36.4 overs)

The fastest-ever 300+ run-chase happened back in 2012 when India took on Sri Lanka in the 11th game of the Commonwealth Bank series in Hobart. Batting first, Tilakratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara were sensational as both batters scored tons – 160* and 105 respectively. Coming in to chase the target down, it was thanks to a brilliant ton by Virat Kohli, who scored 133* off 86 to win India the game in just 36.4 overs.
