Five minutes before toss Rahul Dravid told I’m playing: KL Rahul

India’s flamboyant right-hander KL Rahul opened up on his inclusion in the high-voltage match against Pakistan in the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Notably, KL Rahul slammed a magnificent ton against the Men in Green which played a crucial part in taking India to a 228-run runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday, September 11.

Notably, Rahul was included in the squad after Shreyas Iyer sustained back spasm. Rahul stated that it was head coach Rahul Dravid who told him only a few minutes before the start of the game regarding his inclusion.

“Rahul (Dravid) bhai 5 minutes before the toss told me I’m playing. I didn’t bring anything with me, because I thought I’ll be serving water. Strange things have happened to me in my career,” KL Rahul told on Star Sports.

India’s biggest win vs Pakistan

Speaking about his stellar knock, Rahul remained unconquered as he hammered two maximums and 12 fours in his 106-ball 111. In addition to this, he combined to raise an unbroken 233-run stand with Virat Kohli to steer India to a humongous 356.

During the chase, Kuldeep Yadav outrightly dominated with the ball. He claimed a magnificent five-wicket haul, giving away a mere 25 runs in his eight overs. Furthermore, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah claimed one wicket apiece to restrict Pakistan to a paltry 128 runs.

Kohli was adjudged player of the match for his unbeaten 94-ball 122 which featured three maximums and nine boundaries. India will turn their attention towards the crucial clash against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Tuesday, September 12. A win in their upcoming game would help get them one step closer to the final of the Asia Cup.
