Former Australian cricketer and commentator Dean Jones passes away

The cricketing world has been shocked by the untimely death of one of cricket’s charismatic characters. Former Australian cricketer and commentator Dean Jones has passed away due to a cardiac arrest. He was in Mumbai for the IPL coverage when the incident took place. The former legend was 59 years old.

The shocking news proved to be true as Jones indeed lost his life while serving the game he played for almost 20 years. The right-hand batsman played 52 Test matches and 164 ODIs for Australia. He amassed 3631 and 6068 runs in both the formats respectively. While he was known for his ODI exploits, he averaged 44.61 in the format, he is also famous for his epic knock of 210 in the tied Test in Chennai against India.

After retiring from international cricket in 1994, Jones found a new career in the television industry. Taking up commentary gigs, Jones also known as ‘Deano” made a name for himself amongst the new generation fans.
