GT vs RCB Review – Shubman Gill’s ton knocks RCB out

Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore even as Virat Kohli scored a brilliant ton to propel the side to 197 runs. It proved to be in vain as Shubman Gill’s ton trumped Kohli’s.

Coming in to bat first, Faf du Plessis and Kohli looked to provide Bangalore with the best start possible. However, du Plessis failed to make as much of an impact as he was dismissed for 28. However, it was the brilliant knock of Kohli that helped Bangalore post the big total. Kohli amassed 101* runs in 61 balls as Bangalore posted 197.

Noor Ahmad was the highest wicket-taker for Gujarat, taking two wickets and conceding 39 runs in four overs. Furthermore, Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal, and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.

Coming in to chase, Gujarat were met with the early dismissal of Wriddhiman Saha who was dismissed after a brilliant catch by Wayne Parnell. However, Shubman Gill’s brilliant ton (104* runs in 52 balls) was accompanied by Vijay Shankar’s 53 off 35. Mohammed Siraj was the highest wicket-taker for Bangalore with two wickets to his name while Vyshak Vijay Kumar and Harshal Patel took one wicket each.

Virat Kohli

Kohli was phenomenal for Bangalore in the first innings. The 34-year-old scored 101* runs in 61 balls, and his knock was crucial in propelling the side to a total of 197 runs. Despite his knock being in vain, Kohli played a knock for the ages.

Shubman Gill

Gill lit the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on fire. Chasing the target, Gill stood at the crease until the very end and scored 104* runs in 52 balls, propelling Gujarat to a win by six wickets.

What’s next for both teams?

Gujarat Titans take on Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2023 on Tuesday, May 23. On the other hand, Bangalore are eliminated from the competition.
