GT vs RR Preview – IPL 2022 finalists up against each other

Gujarat Titans will host Rajasthan Royals in the 23rd game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 at their home base- the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on April 16, Sunday. Both teams are coming off victories from their previous game. While GT defeated PBKS in their most recent encounter, RR defeated CSK to clinch their first win in Chennai since 2008.

The IPL 2023 has witnessed many thrilling encounters so far, and the upcoming game too shall be a similar one. Gujarat’s last game at their home ground saw Kolkata Knight Riders chasing the total on the final ball of the final over, and the hosts will be hoping to register another victory at their home ground and provide the local crowd the worth for their money.

Rajasthan Royals have been in good form too, as they defeated CSK in the final over after putting a pause on MS Dhoni’s carnage, thanks to bowling brilliance by Sandeep Sharma in the final couple of deliveries. This will be the first encounter between GT and RR since the final of IPL 2022. The two sides played the summit clash at the same venue last year, and though GT won the contest, RR will be hoping to turn the tables around this time.

Pitch and conditions

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has supported the batters really well. The previous game here was a high-scoring thriller and something similar can be expected in the forthcoming game, given the strong batting unit of the two sides.

Probable playing XI for Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals clash:

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans have plenty of match-winners on their side. While both the openers are in good form, David Miller, Sai Sudharsan, and Vijay Shankar have been doing brilliantly in the middle order. Rahul Tewatia is now a trustworthy name as a finisher for the side, and vice-captain Rashid Khan will be the skipper’s go-to bowler.

Rajasthan Royals

Things fell back in place for the Rajasthan Royals after their only loss of the tournament so far. After losing to Punjab Kings, the Men in Pink put up terrific performances to clinch back-to-back victories. They would be hoping to continue the same momentum. Trent Boult will be hoping to return to this fixture after missing the last one.
