Harsha Bhogle backs Virat Kohli to be amongst the runs soon
Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in the ongoing third ODI between India and West Indies and this has been one of his least productive series in recent times with scores of 8, 18 and 0 in the three innings he has played. The 33-year-old has been going through a rough patch form in the longer format especially and it has continued into the limited-overs format too. Kohli last scored an international century way back in 2019 in the pink-ball Test against Bangladesh.
Kohli in order to regain form with the bat had decided to step down from India’s Test captaincy after the South Africa tour and is no longer the skipper in ODIs as well. He still is among the greats of the game with 70 international centuries already and was expected to break a lot of records in the coming years.
But he hasn’t scored an international century now for more than two years. However, he faced a similar kind of rough patch in Tests in 2014 against England but comeback with a bang to show why he is called the ‘King Kohli’.

Popular commentator Harsha Bhogle was quick to react to Kohli’s dismissal in the third ODI. He mentioned that every player has gone through a rough patch in their career. He noted that Kohli, being one of the greats, is more likely to create a big impact when he comes back in form and aspires to see the 33-year-old back at his best. Kohli has scored 12,311 runs in 259 ODIs at an average of 58.3 and is considered to be among the best batters in the generation for his consistency.
Meanwhile, the top three of India’s batting couldn’t get going after Rohit won the toss and opted to bat while Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant bailed the team out of trouble with a useful partnership. Iyer was fantastic in his innings of 80 and was unlucky to have missed out on a century while the wicketkeeper batter reached his half-century. Deepak Chahar’s excellent cameo along with Washington Sundar helped India post 265 runs in the third ODI.
