Highest individual score in Border-Gavaskar Trophy history

The two fierce rivals- India and Australia are facing each other in a four-match Test series which commenced on February 9. The two sides have kickstarted the proceedings at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur and will conclude the series with the fourth and final Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Claiming the series would mean that the winning team will have made a spot in the World Test Championship final as both teams are eyeing for spots in the global ICC event. 3. Ricky Ponting – 257 runs

One of the most decorated cricketers and a top batter from Australia, Ricky Pointing gave many memorable performances for his team. When India toured the Australian subcontinent in 2003, Ponting stole the show in the red-ball contest as he carved out a sensational 257 in the second innings to steer his side to a daunting total of 558 runs. The Aussies comfortably won the contest courtesy of the majestic knock by the astute batter.

2. VVS Laxman – 281 runs

VVS Laxman was regarded as one of the finest cricketers who played red-ball cricket for India. In 2001, at the Eden Gardens, Laxman took the rival bowling unit by storm as he scored helped his side win the contest with a score of 281. He was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his knock and also registered one of the highest scores in the series.

1. Michael Clarke – 329 runs

The former World Cup winner holds the record for the highest score in the BGT history. The batter came down the order in the second Test match in 2012 and slammed an unbeaten 329. His knock included 39 boundaries and one maximum.
