Highest men’s ODI totals for Australia

Australia is considered the powerhouse of the cricketing world as they are the most successful team in the history of the sport. 3) 392/8 vs South Africa, 2nd ODI, Bloemfontein, September 09 2023

Being 0-1 behind in the series, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and invited Australia to bat first. Little did he know that he would regret his decision a few hours later as Australian batters unleashed their beast mode on his bowlers. David Warner (106 off 93) and Marnus Labuschagne (124 off 99) scored splendid hundreds to propel their team total to 392/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Australia further went on to win the match by 123 runs and Labuschagne took the Player of the Match award home.

2) 417/6 vs Afghanistan, 26th Match, World Cup 2015, Perth, March 04

After being put in to bat first, Australia unleashed their wrath on an inexperienced Afghanistan attack. David Warner was the destroyer in chief with his scintillating innings of 178 off 133 balls while Steven Smith (95 off 98) and Glenn Maxwell (88 off 39) also chipped in with handy knocks. Courtesy of their remarkable batting, Australia posted a massive score of 417/6 in their allotted 50 overs. They won the match by a massive margin of 275 runs and David Warner was awarded Player of the Match.

1) 434/4 vs South Africa, 5th ODI, Johannesburg, March 12, 2006

After winning the toss, captain Ricky Ponting decided to bat first in the series decider and vindicated his decision with a breathtaking knock of 164 off 105 balls. Adam Gilchrist (55 off 44), Simon Katich (79 off 90) and Michael Hussey (81 off 51) also chipped in with runs to help their team post 434/4 in the first innings. However, the Aussies were in for a surprise in the second innings as South Africa chased down the massive score in 49.5 overs and won the game. Ponting was awarded Player of the Match for his hundred, however, he handed it over to Herschelle Gibbs for his match-winning knock.
