Hyderabad have issues from No. 1 to No. 11: Aakash Chopra

Despite having one of the strongest squads on paper, Hyderabad have failed to live up to the expectations in the ongoing IPL 2023. The Aiden Markram-led side has managed to win only three out of their nine games and with that, they are currently at the bottom of the IPL points table.

In order to make a turnaround, they will have to win all their remaining games and on top of that, will have to hope that other teams drop points as well.

However, as per former cricketer Aakash Chopra, Hyderabad’s chances to qualify for the IPL playoffs are almost negligible. The 45-year-old also mentioned that the team has plenty of problems at the moment as none of their players have stepped up in the current season.

Chopra also suggested that the team might drop England international Harry Brook as the 24-year-old has managed to score only 163 runs in 10 matches so far in the tournament.

“Hyderabad will be finished if they lose (against Rajasthan Royals). The situation they are in, their chances of qualifying are looking nil in any case. Hyderabad’s problems are uncountable. They have issues from No. 1 to No. 11. They might have to drop Harry puttar (Harry Brook),” Chopra stated in a video shared on his YouTube channel.

“Play Glenn Phillips here because he is available. Mayank Agarwal should open with Abhishek Sharma. They were handed a heavy defeat the last time the two teams met. Rajasthan’s top three – Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal – scored fifties,” he added.

Batters not scoring runs is responsible for Rajasthan’s defeats: Aakash Chopra

When it comes to Rajasthan Royals, the Sanju Samson-led side suffered four defeats in their last five matches and are currently fourth on the IPL points table. Talking about that, Chopra stated that Rajasthan’s batting is the main concern right now as many of their batters are not in form at the moment.

“It is an extremely important game for Rajasthan. Rajasthan won four of their first five games and only one in their last five. Batters not scoring runs is responsible for their defeats,” Chopra mentioned.
