ICC ODI Rankings: Kohli, Rohit retain top 2 places, Babar at No.3

India captain Virat Kohli and batsman Rohit Sharma have retained the top 2 positions in the ICC ODI Rankings for batsmen. Pakistan batsman Babar Azam holds on to the No.3 spot. With 719 points, India’s Jasprit Bumrah is placed second, slightly behind the top-ranked New Zealand pacer Trent Boult (722).

The International Cricket Council updated the ODI Rankings after the recently concluded England-Ireland ODI series. Three Ireland players also took major strides in the rankings after their impressive performance against England.

Captain Andy Balbirnie’s stunning century in the third ODI helped him move four places up to the 42nd rank. Thanks to his sensational 142, vice-captain Paul Stirling jump a place up to the 26th position. Curtis Campher, who made an impressive start to his career with back-to-back fifties, has also entered the ODI rankings for batsmen. He is placed at the 191st position.

As for the bowlers, Craig Young’s 6 wickets in the series skyrocketed him to a career-best 89th place. Mark Adair and Joshua Little also made significant progress in the bowlers’ rankings.

On the other hand, England captain Eoin Morgan’s valiant hundred in the last match helped him step up to 22nd place in the rankings for batsmen. Jonny Bairstow’s sizzling 82 in the 2nd ODI got him up to 13th. Leg spinner Adil Rashid (25th) and seamer David Willey (51st) also made progress.
