ILT20 2023: Top 3 run-scorers

The inaugural edition of the ILT20 culminated after a month of power-packed action that ultimately witnessed Gulf Giants clinching the silverware by defeating Desert Vipers in the summit clash. One of the most intriguing highlights of the tournament turned out to be how batters from across teams dominated throughout the season and it eventually resulted in high-scoring games from time to time.

Even though the conditions in UAE often favour the spinners, batters showed their prowess and made the headlines. On that note, here’s the list of the top three run-scorers in the tournament:

3. Kieron Pollard

Former West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard was the third-leading run-scorer in the first edition of the ILT20. Representing MI Emirates, the 35-year-old amassed 394 runs from 10 matches at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 192.19. Even though he had a stellar season with the bat, Pollard couldn’t help his team qualify for the finals as MI Emirates lost to Gulf Giants in the second qualifier.

2. James Vince

The 31-year-old James Vince is one of the most successful players when it comes to franchise cricket. In the ILT20, the opener amassed 439 runs from 11 matches and finished as the second-leading run-scorer. The England international played an instrumental role in Gulf Giants’ success and also became the first-ever skipper to win the tournament.

1. Alex Hales

The word destruction is synonymous with Alex Hales. The 34-year-old once again reigned supreme, scoring 469 runs from 12 matches in the league at a strike rate of over 150. However, the England international failed to bring the trophy home as Gulf Giants beat Desert Vipers on the night of the finals. His dip in form towards the fag end eventually cost the Vipers at the business end of the tournament. Nevertheless, he finished as the leading run-scorer of the tournament.
