IND vs SA: 1st T20I – Rain at Dharamsala postpones India’s home season opener

Rain at Dharamsala

The Indian cricket fans had to look elsewhere to catch a glimpse of their favourite game as rain ruined the evening in Dharamsala. The first T20I between India and South Africa at the picturesque venue was called off due to relentless rain. The match was abandoned without the toss taking place.

The signs of the game being washed out were evident leading up to the match. The weather at Dharamsala had remained similar on previous nights as well. On the eve of the match, India’s only outdoor practice session could not take place due to the inclement weather. Although the conditions were expected to clear before the scheduled start of play, the rain maintained its presence. A major part of ground remained under covers even as the start time approached.

Eventually, the match was officially called off at 7:45 pm IST. The crowds who had turned up in large numbers had to return with disappointment. Both the teams will now travel to Mohali where they will play second of the three-match T20I series. The action is expected to begin at 7:00 PM IST on 18th September, Wednesday.
