IND vs SA: Top performers from ODI series

After beating South Africa 2-1 in the three-match T20I series, Team India came out trumps in the ODIs as well as they beat the Proteas by the same margin. Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian side signed off their last international series before the T20 World Cup with a victory under their belt. Few players from both sides performed well in these 3 matches and to highlight it they appear in our article.

1.Shreyas Iyer

India’s right-handed batter Shreyas Iyer is going through a purple patch in one-day internationals. He has struck five 50-plus scores in his last seven ODI innings. Talking about his performances in this series, he ended up as the highest run-getter. The 27-year-old batter smashed 191 runs in three innings at an average of 191.00 and a strike rate of 111.69. He slammed one century and one fifty and also won the Player of the Match award in the second match.

2.Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav finished the series as the highest wicket-taker. The spinner snared six scalps at an average of 17.66 and a strike rate of 21.1, going with an economy rate of 5.00. He took figures of 4/18 in 4.1 overs in the third and the final match as he helped his side in bundling out the Proteas for just 99. Courtesy of his spell, India won the game by seven wickets and the series 2-1. He also grabbed the Player of the Match award for his performance.

3.Mohammed Siraj

India pacer Mohammed Siraj took the second-most wickets in the series. The right-arm medium-fast bowler, who was exceptional upfront in the powerplay, took five wickets at an average of 20.80, a strike rate of 27.6 and an economy rate of 4.52. The 28-year-old seam bowler took figures of 3/38 in ten overs with one maiden in the second game, which included the scalps of Quinton de Kock for just five and a well-settled Reeza Hendricks for 74.

4.Heinrich Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen ended up as the highest run-getter for his side and second-highest overall behind Iyer in the series. The right-handed batter struck 138 runs at an average of 69.00 and a strike rate of 103.75 with one half-century. His unbeaten knock of 74 off 65 in the opening ODI saw South Africa win the game as he also won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning fifty. Notably, Klaasen got starts in all matches with scores of 30 and 34 in the first and second games respectively.
