IND vs SL: Top 5 performers from Test Series

Team India comfortably crushed the visitors Sri Lanka in the recently conducted two-match Test series. The Sri Lankan side were not a match for the home side as India won both Test matches by a comfortable margin. In the first match played in Mohali, India was victorious by an innings and 222 runs. While in the second match played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home side again came on top winning by a big margin of 238 runs. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five performers in the series.

Shreyas Iyer (India)

Player of the match in the second Test and the second-highest run-getter in the series, Shreyas Iyer had a memorable Test series against Sri Lanka. The right-handed batter piled up 186 runs in three innings with an outstanding average of 62.00. The 27-year-old was in full flow, scoring half-centuries in both innings of the second Test match, being played on a difficult wicket in Bengaluru. Iyer was a key performer with the bat for the home side.

Ravindra Jadeja (India)

Indian allrounder Ravindra Jadeja breathed fire with both bat and ball against the visitors Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series. The left-handed batter was the highest run-getter in the series making 201 runs in three innings that too at an average of 100.50. The left-arm spinner managed to scalp ten wickets as well, ending as the third highest-wicket taker in the series behind Ashwin and Bumrah.

Rishabh Pant (India)

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was adjudged player of the series for his performances in the two-match Test series against the visitors. Pant was the third-highest run-getter in the series scoring 185 runs in just three innings and scoring them at an average of 61.67. The 24-year-old played without any fear as he took a liking of Sri Lankan bowlers. Pant scored his runs with an outstanding strike rate of 120.13 considering it was the longest format of the game.

Dimuth Karunaratne (Sri Lanka)

Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne was the only batter from the visitors’ side who looked comfortable at the crease. The left-handed opener scored a total of 166 runs with an excellent average of 41.50 considering other Sri Lankan batters’ struggle. The skipper also played an outstanding knock of 107 runs during the second inning of the second Test match played in Bengaluru.

Lasith Embuldeniya (Sri Lanka)

The left-arm-spinner Lasith Embuldeniya was the most successful bowler for the visitors in the two-match Test series. The 25-year-old managed to scalp eight wickets after bowling 90.5 overs. He also managed to scalp some big-name players including Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli as well.
