IND vs WI: Ishan Kishan, Shahrukh Khan added to India’s squad

Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan have been added to India’s ODI squad on the eve of the series-opening encounter against West Indies at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed.

Shahrukh was only recently named as one of the standbys alongside his Tamil Nadu teammate R Sai Kishore for India’s T20I squad in the wake of positive Covid-19 cases in the team as Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and standby Navdeep Saini tested positive four days before the start of the series.

Those who contracted the virus also included members of the supports staff, with fielding coach T Dilip returning a positive result alongside security liaison officer B Lokesh and massage therapist Rajeev Kumar.

Subsequently, India added Mayank Agarwal to the ODI squad, however, he will not be available for the opening encounter on February 6 as he continues to remain in quarantine. As it stands, Dhawan, Iyer and Gaikwad are all set to miss at least the three ODIs, all to be played in Ahmedabad until February 11.

It remains to be seen if the abovementioned players, who are currently in isolation in Ahmedabad, will be able to join the team for the ensuing 20-over leg of the series, comprising of three T20Is, all to be played at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on February 16, 18 and 20.
