India ‘A’ lift the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 title

India A Women won the ACC Womens Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 as they beat Bangladesh A Women by 31 runs in the final on Wednesday, June 21, at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok. After opting to bat first, India posted a score of 127/7 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of valuable contributions from Vrinda Dinesh (36 off 29) and Kanika Ahuja (30* off 23). In reply, they bundled out Bangladesh for 96, with Shreyanka Patil (4/13) picking four wickets.

Following their emphatic win, the team got a special congratulatory message from many dignitaries. They lauded efforts of the team and congratulated India for winning the competition.

Coming back to the match, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Indian captain Shweta Sherawat couldn’t get her team off to a good start as she scored 13 off 20. India lost their first wicket on the score of 28 after 5.4 overs. Her opening partner Uma Chetry (22 off 20), was the second wicket to fall as India were on 43/2 after 7.5 overs.

Vrinda Dinesh (36 off 29) held the innings together in the middle, while Kanika Ahuja (30* off 23) gave the perfect finish to guide India to 127/7 in the first innings.

In the second innings, Mannat Kashyap gave the first blow to Bangladesh A as she dismissed Dilara Akter (5 off 7) in the second over. Following the fall of the first wicket, Shreyanka Patil (4/13) and Mannat Kashyap (3/20) ran through the Bangladesh batting order and bundled them for 96. As a result, India A won the match by 31 runs and were crowned champions. Kanika Ahuja was awarded Player of the Match for her all-round show, where she scored 30* (23) and picked 2/23 with the ball.
