IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals lose Amit Mishra for the season owing to finger injury

Amit Mishra

Delhi Capitals have received a massive setback with their ace leg-spinner Amit Mishra being ruled of the IPL 2020 due to a finger injury. Mishra got injured in his first over in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders but continued to bowl with the injury. He bowled a two overs for 12 runs while dismissing Shubman Gill.

Mishra featured in three matches for Delhi Capitals in this season. While he went wicketless in the first match against Chennai Super Kings, he took 2/35 in DC’s game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, his former franchise. Mishra has played in a total of 150 IPL matches and has claimed 160 wickets. Currently, he is 10 wickets short of the all-time leading wicket-taker in the IPL, Lasith Malinga.

Capitals do have a like-to-like replacement for Mishra in Sandeep Lamichhane, the Nepalese leg-spinner. Thus far, Lamichhane has played nine IPL matches and has 13 scalps in his account. However, adding him in the line-up will take away an overseas spot.
