IPL 2020: RR vs MI Preview – Rajasthan face mighty Mumbai

Steve Smith’s Rajasthan Royals and Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians will take on each other at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Match 45 of IPL 2020. Rajasthan Royals have 4 wins to their name in 11 matches, while Mumbai Indians have 7 wins in 10 matches. Rajasthan Royals are coming off a loss against SRH, while MI demolished CSK in their erstwhile encounter. The last time the two teams met, Mumbai defeated Rajasthan comfortably by 57 runs.

Rajasthan Royals have not quite had the season they would have liked after 2 wins in their two games. Their batting has certainly not performed as well as it should have, and there is barely anyone in the pace attack to complement the lethal Jofra Archer. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have easily looked like the most dominating side this season. Because of a higher net run-rate than Delhi and Bangalore, they are on top of the table even after having won the same number of the matches. The best part about the team has been that all players have contributed at some stage in the tournament.

Team News:

Rajasthan Royals:

Steve Smith has baffled many with his surprising decision-making this season. The move to open the batting with Ben Stokes and demote Jos Buttler at number 5 has not paid off as well as they would have liked. While Buttler still seems to have adapted to the new role, it is clearly not suiting Ben Stokes. The constant chopping and changing of the batting order has not worked that well for the team.

Mumbai Indians:

Rohit Sharma missed out in the last match owing to a hamstring strain on his left leg. Kieron Pollard took over as captain, and the team made sure that they did not miss their regular captain’s services at all. They put up a brilliant display against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings, becoming the first team to have defeated them by 10 wickets. A win here would confirm their entry into the playoffs.
