IPL 2020: Sunil Narine working ‘overtime’ to correct his bowling action

Narine

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all in full swing, and franchises are dealing with their shares of ups and downs along the way. The recent development that gave a great headache to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was that their star spinner Sunil Narine was reported for his bowling action. He has been put on the warning list and has been asked to work on the same.

It was during the match against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) where he was being objected by the on-field umpire. He was reported in the year 2014, too, and he reached out to Englishman Carl Crowe for all the help. Narine has again approached Crowe for reworking his action so that he can accompany his teammates for the rest of the season.

He would be banned if he repeats his objected action one more time in the league. In the latest turn of developments, close sources revealed that Narine and Crowe have been working out of their skin in the last few days. Their net sessions and practice have been non-stop as the ace spinner is trying hard to find his way back into the team.

Crowe and Narine have been working overtime, reports

“Crowe was the man Narine went to after being called for suspect action back in 2014-2015 and with him in the unit, it was but obvious that the two would try to correct his action to ensure that the spinner can return to bowling after being called in the game against KXIP. They have been working overtime, be it at the nets or while analysing angles with data analysts,” said a close source as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Crowe is the only man who can help Narine right now as the spinner cannot go for biochemical analysis of his action in Chennai. The BCCI and ICC-accredited Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy, and Sports Sciences Centre (SRASSC) is in Chennai.

If he goes out of UAE, it would mean that he will have to go through the quarantine period and rest of the formalities before stepping on the field. The Caribbean player has already missed the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
