IPL 2021: Andrew Tye pulls out of rest of the season

Tye

Rajasthan Royals (RR) put up one of the best efforts of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to win the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday (April 24). But their overseas resources are getting seriously affected now as Australia cricketer Andrew Tye has pulled out of the rest of the IPL season. Tye is the fourth player of the Royals’ camp to leave the tournament now.

Prior to him, Jofra Archer was ruled out of IPL 2021 while Ben Stokes injured his finger during the team’s first match of the season. Liam Livingstone was the third player as he travelled back home citing bubble fatigue as the reason.

However, the reason for Andrew Tye pulling out of the tournament is not yet known. Interestingly, the franchise hasn’t announced it officially and the news was revealed by RR’s Director of Cricket Operations Kumar Sangakkara after the match. In a video released by RR, Sangakkara can be seen telling to the players that Tye will be leaving on Sunday morning.

“AJ is leaving in the morning at 4 AM, so all of you boys who wanna say bye to him and thank you, he’s been part of the squad. He’s offered a lot of himself and his thoughts,” Sangakkara said to the players while Tye was also present in the dressing room.

Rajasthan Royals to play next game on April 29

After registering their second win of the season on Saturday, Rajasthan Royals are next scheduled to face the five-time champions Mumbai Indians on April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. They are seriously short of their overseas players’ slot now with Chris Morris, Jos Buttler, David Miller and Mustafizur Rahman being part of the XI.

A couple of days ago, it was reported that Rassie van der Dussen will join the Royals’ camp soon and he is awaiting clearance of his visa to travel to India. However, there is no news about it as of now and the Royals are now left with limited resources for the rest of the season.
