IPL 2021: CSK vs PBKS Preview – Chennai seek winning confidence ahead of playoffs

Chennai Super Kings are all set to play their last league game in the IPL 2021 when they take on Punjab Kings in match 53. The match will be played in Dubai and would be an afternoon game which might present a different challenge to the teams. Having said that, the match should be an interesting watch, given the bench strength of these two teams.

Punjab Kings have only won five out of their 13 matches and practically have no chances of qualification. On the other hand, Chennai have won enough games to make it to the playoffs but would be looking for a top-two position. Having said that, there is a lot to play for both teams and this could be a cracking game of cricket.

IPL 2021 Match 53 – Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings

Venue: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

Time: 3:30 PM IST

Team News:

Chennai Super Kings: The Chennai team doesn’t make too many changes when they are winning and they are unlikely to change when they have lost two games in a row. CSK brought in Robin Uthappa who may retain his place in the side. KM Asif was dropped in favour of Deepak Chahar as it was expected to happen. That change is likely to continue. On top of that, Sam Curran’s injury means that CSK might end up sticking to Dwayne Bravo and Josh Hazlewood for the rest of the season. Basically, CSK is likely to be unchanged.

Punjab Kings: Punjab have almost exhausted their chances of qualification and would like to go out with some pride and possibly two points against their name. They opted for Moises Henriques in the previous game, a move that worked wonders for the Punjab Kings. Apart from him, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram were the only overseas players picked. Fabian Allen was dropped in the last game in favour of Harpreet Brar and Punjab might end up getting an overseas star back into the team for their last game.
