IPL 2021: Five interesting player trades which can do wonders

Prithvi Shaw

The 13th edition of IPL which recently got concluded brought back smiles in the homes of millions of fans. Mumbai Indians defended their glory and grabbed their 5th IPL title. A part of their victory also belonged to the sharp-witted personnel present in their squad who benefited themselves in making some exciting trades. Although, there are already reports of an upcoming auction before the next edition before that teams might look to address their loopholes in the provided trade window as who knows it can gel out to be a season-defining move in IPL 2021. Here are 5 Trades that can do wonders ahead of IPL 2021.

5.  Prithvi Shaw – CSK

One of the biggest flops of this year’s IPL has been Prithvi Shaw’s batting despite considering the success DC had tasted. Despite having a successful season, one of the gaps in their team looks to be the lack of quality Indian fast bowlers in their mix and by trading Prithvi Shaw they can potentially grab someone like Shardul Thakur from CSK as the men in yellow are in dire need of a potential opener to form a pair with their season’s find i.e Ruturaj Gaekwad. Shaw’s stint with CSK might give him a new start to his IPL career.

4. Mohammad Nabi – MI

SRH regardless of their injury setbacks did qualify for the fifth consecutive time in playoffs. But one of the clear cut flaws in their squad is lack of an experienced Indian middle-order batsman. With Mohammad Nabi being hardly used now the management might look to him for a trade and in that case, MI might come up with some interest as their spin department being their only loophole lacks depth. MI can easily trade one of its bench strength players like Aditya Tare or Saurabh Tiwary to get the all-round experience of Nabi.

3. David Miller – RCB

David Miller

Rajasthan Royals have always been over-reliant in terms of their overseas stars and haven’t seemed to wield the Indian core and are hence in need of them. With surplus overseas options like David Miller who wasn’t seen much playing in IPL 2020 can be traded in exchange for someone like Umesh Yadav from RCB. Regardless of Umesh being a poor entity for RCB, he can yet be feisty than the likes of Unadkat and Ankit Rajpoot. Meanwhile, Miller can reoccupy himself in the fellowship of ABD who’s already burdened in the middle-order.

2. Sandeep Lamichhane – KKR

With the upturn of Ravi Ashwin along with the presence of Axar Patel, Amit Mishra and Praveen Dubey the spin department of DC already looks in-depth. Sandeep Lamichhane despite being a climbing star in T20 cricket often has to sit on the sidelines. A trade-off with KKR by grabbing Tim Seifert or Tom Banton in exchange of Lamichhane might help DC resolve its top-order woes. Meanwhile, Lamichhane’s addition might recoup the spark in KKR’s spin department especially considering Kuldeep Yadav and Narine’s poor run.

1. Karun Nair –  RR

Kings XI Punjab showed a remarkable turnaround in the second half of IPL 2020 regardless of bowling woes faced in every match. However, Karun Nair has been warming the bench and can be traded for a potential bowler which can be an added strength for Kings XI. His trade can be a right fit with RR as they do need to strengthen their Indian core. RR can, however, hand over Oshane Thomas who has also been a bench warmer.
